Mission
Mission
Built Tough in the Wasatch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to creating a better prepared student adventurer through innovative wilderness first aid education.
For students only, our courses cost $45 including a textbook, and 16-20 hours of wilderness first aid education taught by volunteer medical professionals. At this price point and small time commitment it is difficult to deny the accessibility we have created for a potentially life changing skill set.
Therefore there is now no excuse. We are working towards the goal that everyone will have basic skills and comprehensive first aid kits. This whole project started simply because its what we find important, and so should you. We are part of a culture, we are reckless and surrounded by natures playground, there is nothing that we wouldn't try, but when things go wrong knowing first aid and having the necessary supplies is essential.
ENVIRONMENTALISM
Based on our deep rooted love of the outdoors we at Built Tough in the Wasatch do all that we can to decrease our carbon footprint by reducing, reusing, and recycling. Reducing, when available we offer first aid kits housed in repurposed Nalgene bottles, we are of course, very selective and closely inspect each individual bottle to ensure a water tight seal and that in no way has the structural integrity been compromised, these bottles are then sterilized and put into use. The packing of ones first aid kit must be done in a methodical manner to ensure organization, but also so that you know what you need when you need it. Reusing, instead of buying a new kit when supplies run low we offer the contents without the bottle housing as a means of replenishing supplies. Recycling, all shipping is done in a minimalist fashion but we please ask that you do your part and recycle (or reuse) all that you can.
